Welcome to WET-Anime! If you’ve somehow found this site already, let me give you a gist of what we’re about.
As you may have guessed, we are a fansub group. But we’re not interested in becoming the 107th fansub group to sub the #1 anime of the season. Instead, we’re gonna be focusing our efforts on lesser known classic series, that for unexplainable reasons have never seens the light of day in English. We’re aware these series may not be all that popular, but we’re doing this because of our passion for the shows and the thought that we may be able to bring some of the attention they deserve.
We are a small group, and will be taking things one step at a time, but I am pleased to announce our first project (as if you hadn’t guessed from our banner =P). Drum roll please!
Ashita no Joe 2
Tomorrow’s Joe
That’s right, Ashita no Joe 2, the 47 episode 1980 sequel series to the original 1970 production!
Ashita no Joe is one of the very first few sports anime and almost certainly the first to revolve around boxing. Based on the manga by Takamori Asao and Chiba Tetsuya, both the manga and anime are noted for being pioneers of the genre as a whole, and are considered classics.
Trying not to give too much away for those who haven’t seen the original, the story continues from the tragic ending of the first series and sees Joe returning to the ring to pick up the pieces of his past and regain his former glory.
The original series is currently being subbed by the folks over at Saizen and is well worth the watch, so head over there now and get their releases!
We will also be releasing a recap video for all of those who haven’t seen the original series to get them up to date with the beginning of the second series, so everyone knows what’s happening.
We’re still getting things together at WET, but we have all the staff we need for now, and hopefully we should be ready to roll on soon! See you soon!
